5 Random Friday Finds

Find No. 1

Maybe deciding to grow my hair out at the beginning of the summer was not the best decision. Especially since the humidity has struck this week, and we all know what that does to curly hair. Yikes! While on vacation I could easily hide it under a hat. At home not so easy to hide.

Find No. 2

I found my new cast iron pan. A 10" skillet with a glass lid. Can't wait to start using it.

Find No. 3

I found a couple new/old things for my pottery barn shelf. The record album cover $2 and the flower vase next to it $4. Now if I could just get the two shelves to work together I would be ever so happy.

Find No. 4

I found new hardware for the kitchen cabinets. We are going with the one of the left. Has the exact right feel to it.

Replacing these original ones....

Find No. 5

I found these stained glass windows...

and these church entrance doors when I did a tour of an old Lutheran church on Tuesday night. The church has been renovated into 22 apartments. Some of the apartments actually have the stained glass as their windows. So pretty.

What a great idea to transform a church into apartments. I'd love to have a stained-glass window in my living-room!
Your new Lodge cast iron pan looks wonderful. I have been looking for one over here in Switzerland, but they just don't seem to exist anymore. It will need to be mail-ordered I expect. Have a lovely weekend!

That is happening a lot in the UK old Methodist chapels and even old schools are being recycled, so much better than being torn down.....

I so sympathise with the curly hair in humid weather thing. I'm a martyr to the frizz when the mercury rises and the humidity arrives in August. All the best, Bonny

Love your self-portrait! Beautiful place to take your photo! I think it's cool that they've saved this church and made it into apartments. I'd love to have stained glass in my home! Love your new knobs!!

I love cooking with cast iron but we just purchased a glass top stove and were told the cast iron could crack it...very sad. the stained glass windows are gorgeous but I love the photo of the door entrance the best.

I'm thinking it will be around next week while at the golf tournament in 100 gazillion degrees with equal amounts of humidity that the whole idea of growing my hair out will seem like a horrible-stupid-what was I thinking idea. Love the cabinet hardware - gosh, do we ever need to change our's out.

That could be real interesting living in an old church. Love your knobs and I've never seen a cast iron skillet with a lid. But they need one. Good luck on the hair. Our humidity was actually 90% the other morning. Rare for here.

Good luck with your hair-growing-out! I just cut 3 inches off mine. Now I need to get a real haircut to put some shape back into it, but it does feel lighter. A church converted to apartments sounds interesting and it would be pretty special to have a stained glass window in your living room. I like conversions that preserve old buildings with new uses. (I'm moving into a converted mill building myself this week.)

I love stained glass windows- so gorgeous. My granddaughter has super curly hair and in the summer she puts it on top of her head. I call her Pebbles. LOL! What a great idea to renovate old churches into apartments! So much better than letting them just crumble away.

Wish straight hair had the same problem as curly hair in humidity. Unfortunately all it does is stick to my neck and make we feel hot and sweaty. - Nice looking cast iron pan. We have some old ones and boy are those things, heavy.
Loved the stain glass windows. That would be cool to have one in your apartment. At least the church wasn't torn down and is being used for something.
