Photo - Heart Connection ~ February

I will confess I did not take this photo, my beautiful daughter did, but it is of me. It was taken on a recent Saturday morning when my husband and I were visiting our daughter at college. My husband had gone out cross country skiing that morning, so Mallory and I decided to go to her favorite coffee shop for breakfast. Even though we talk on the phone daily nothing is better than face to face conversation.

What I love about what she has captured here is the essence of who I am becoming, a writer. In January I started a series on my blog called The Coffee Shop Chronicles, each week I either visit my favorite coffee shop or another local one and write about what is happening in the coffee shop. In my favorite coffee shop there are a lot of regulars so they have developed into a weekly cast of characters. Through this series and the weekly practice of writing I am uncovering a true joy, writing. I have always enjoyed writing but now I can see possibilities for the future, maybe even, dare I say it, a book.

Nothing like time with your daughter! I always enjoy mine. How did they become young women so quickly? Great post!

I'm eyeing those scones! I think anything is possible, Sarah, if we are willing to work for it.

Bravo, bravo. I love how comfortable you've become with your selfies (and little apple from the apple tree selfies). This photo is awesome. I'm so glad you have the discinpline to do your coffee shop bit. It's a brilliant idea. I would like to write, but don't seem to know what voice to use or how to carry a "story" beyond two or three pages. I wish you big success-personal or more with this project.
P.S. I want to read it when it's done. : )

Lovely photo! You inspired me to write more and I'm actually writing about that for my photo-heart connection, too! I promise I had it written before I read yours! Great minds think alike!

It is so fun to see you on the other side of the looking glass. I wonder if your daughter perhaps has a story behind this picture? Keep up the stories - I can without doubt see them in a book - with pictures of course.

Having a daughter who is also a good friend is a special blessing. Having a photo taken by her that reveals the person you see yourself becoming is a wonderful Photo-Heart Connection. I've been loving your coffee shop series and look forward to each new one. Now I'm also looking forward to seeing where your writing takes you!

Great photo, looks wonderful in black and white. And of course, you must dare to say it... this is the first step. I am flirting with that idea too. Even when I have to write due to working reasons, I have wanted to go beyond blogging and write more about my learnings for some time now but hadn´t found the inspiration but now is becoming a true possibility, it all started with a collage series that I am creating and gave me an idea and suddenly things seem to fit in the right place... I guess this is what is happening with your coffe shop chronicles.

Fantastic photo-heart connection

What a lovely and meaningful photo your daughter took of you. How exciting to be developing new skills! I find writing so hard for me, and admire people who can write well. Your Coffee Shop Chronicles sounds like fun, I will check it out.

Oh, I'm so happy to have found you! I've been reading posts for a few minutes, and will be back to catch up on all your coffee shop posts! I had the joy of living in France for 12 years, and wish that I had been writing .... and had chronicled all those long, lazy sits at those incredible cafes!! Can't wait to get to know you more!

I looked closely at your photograph and thought about what I loved: the strength and intensity and concentration on your face. The the "circles" that lead one's eye up to your "portrait." I will check out your cafe stories, sounds intriguing....

Love the Coffee Shop Chronicles. I don't drink much coffee, but you inspired me to visit my local pub turned coffee shop for a heavenly scone and cappucino with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Keep up with the writings and your character development. I will be reading! Aloha

How exciting that you had face to face time with your daughter, and that you are finding your voice as a writer! I have a fond place in my heart for a little greasy spoon kind of coffee shop from many years ago. I wish I had written then about the old people who went there on a regular basis...over time we forget some of the best parts.

Great photo heart connection!
