5 Random Friday Finds

Find No. 1

My new vanity plate came at the end of last week. I always wanted one but never knew what to put on it. Now I know :) And AnnMary that stands for Rain Boots not Rain Bits.

Find No. 2

On the subject of Rain Boots, I am trying out a new pair. Pretty eye catching don't you think. These will not be replacing the Paisleys just in addition too. Although the left Paisley does make a water squishing noise when I walk, so they may get relegated to Winter and field work only from now on.

Find No. 3

While driving to church by myself on Sunday I noticed this box car just screaming to be photographed. So I got out with my iPhone and took some photos for some processing fun. I am sure all the other people driving by on their way to church had a good chuckle at this girl in her good Sunday clothes standing in a muddy field taking pictures of a train car with her iPhone.

Find No. 4

One of my goals for the second quarter of 2014 is to try more new recipes. I know it is still the first quarter but I am getting a head start. This week I made Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa, yum! You can find the recipe here if you are interested.

Find No. 5

After a couple of months of searching I may have finally found a new desk for the iMac. Finally we will be able to get rid of the gigantic computer armoire and get new book shelves instead.

They may now be red rain boots, but I will always still see them as paisley!!

Some great finds there and I particularly love the desk. I am trying to find an old Victorian style desk to put the streamlined computer equipment now, along with somewhere to write on proper paper!

My favorite photo is the train box car - and the story of the girl in her Sunday best who took it. The editing gives a real vintage feel. I'll check out the recipe as we continue on our healthy eating journey here. Love all of your Friday Finds - can't wait till we can replace our old and outdated computer desk that we've had for 27 years! Your choice is simple, elegant and functional.

My hubby has had "IX LIVES" as his truck plate for many years now -- as an iron worker and motorcyclist with a history of bad accidents, it suits him. :)

I love those boots! Not paisley but very cool.

Love the desk! If I saw you standing out in a muddy field taking a picture of a train car in your Sunday best, I would have pulled over and got out my camera to stand right next to you. Love it when I find something interesting along the road.

Great vanity plate, so you...

Love those rain boots ... the plate and the boots. Great desk. I'm glad I'm not the only one who stops and takes photos. Great shot and processing. The salmon recipe sounds so good ... and I love asparagus. Happy Friday!

good morning Sarah! I had to smile when I looked at facebook this morning and saw a photo of the vanity plate ... knew it just had to be yours! love it! New rain boots will be much needed this time of year. I ventured out to my backyard ... just to see if anything is poking theirs heads out of the ground ... and squish squish ... guess I might need to buy myself a pair!

Love your finds! Your vanity plate is great. When I saw it, I thought it was Sheila's car. If I had known it was your car, I would have known!

Lots of good randomness...love the plates and oh those red boots are so cute. I could really use a pair of those. The train car was a fun find - don't ya love all the crazy looks we get from people who don't "get it" and the desk looks perfect (love the legs).

Always looking for ways to cook salmon.. putting avocado on top is superb! Love the red boots, I have a pair too. Cool click with your iPhone!!!

Every once in a while you're just going to have to put those paisley rain boots on and take a picture of them. I'll miss them! You could put them in the trunk and then when you stand in the muddy field in your Sunday best your feet will be equally well dressed! :) Your meal looks professional! Keep posting pictures of your creations! And lastly, you've chosen a beautiful desk! I love the dark wood!

A great vanity plate! I got one a couple of years ago. It took me two years to figure out what I wanted on it!

I love your vanity plate! The salmon looks yummy! When I actually listen to that gut feeling and stop the car to take a picture, it usually turns out to be a good image. It is the listening and then doing I have the problem with. I am glad you listened to that 'feeling' , you captured a winner in your Sunday best!

Great vanity tag! And I love the table. Hope you get it.

That desk is gorgeous, and I love your vanity plate!

Have a great weekend.

So many good finds here. I am happy the paisleys will be staying, at least for now. I would stand in a muddy field en route to church for that photo too, but I don't have an iphone. I've been resisting. I don't want something smarter than me. The new recipe looks right up our alley and I love that the newer technology does allow us to downsize things.

Great finds, Sarah. I especially liked the photo of the boxcar. Fabulous! When I take photos on my iPhone they never come out like that. I also like the look of your salmon with avocado salsa. I might just give that a try ... if I can ever lay my hands on any decent avocados. I don't know how it is with you, but over here they are either mushed up/ going black or as hard as turnips with no flavour. Have a great weekend, Bonny

Nice rainboots and table...
This car I would have photographed - I am so often climbed in the best clothes somewhere in old houses or jump over pits, when something interesting was there.
Have a nice weekend

Lots of great finds here this week. Cool Vanity Plate, Snazzy Rain Boots, Awesome Train Shot, Yummy Food and a Lovely desk.

Love your new desk. I'm still on the dining table. Not the best height but at least I'm in the same room as Blake. I make my asparagus like that. Love the new plates, and boots. Have a great and hopefully warm weekend.

Karen Lakis said...

Oh, yeah - that box car was screaming to be photographed!! Nice catch, even if there were some chuckles. You just gotta do what you just gotta do!

Unknown said...

YES...i'm VERY interested in the recipe. That is one thing I LOVE to collect! Great train catch, desk, boots and vanity plate! All perfect for you! Happy weekend Sarah!

abrianna said...

But...they're *not* paisley!! :)

First thing I noticed in the dinner dish was the asparagus!

Nice computer desk.

I love the red boots!! Red is one of my favorite colors - I used to wear red cowboy boots all the time! I saw some red paisley rain boots at my local shoe store a while back. Holler if you'd like me to see if they are still there.

I like all of your finds, especially the grilled salmon....

Love all your finds and the new licence plate! The train car reminded me of NYC subway cars in the 80's. NYC found a way to coat all the train cars so graffiti paint would wash off and we hardly saw nay after that. That desk is very chic! I like the black and yellow color scheme!

ooh I am going to check out the recipe

Neat license plate! Nice new boots. too. Love the box car photo and your editing makes it look special.
Enjoy your weekend!

Tanya Breese said...

oh i love that desk. i really like black! the train car is awesome!

Those are pretty snappy red boots but do miss the paisley ones. I laughed as I read about you taking the photo of of the box car in your Sunday best! I was wondering what people where thinking of me as I dropped all my bads in the parking lot to get that photo of the penny someone had dropped. Photography has gone to a whole new level with access to cell phones! Great take this week.

Great finds, Sarah! That table is exactly what I'm looking for except about 1/3 of the size! Recipe sounds great - heading there now. Thanks!

Great finds! I'm envious of your rain boots. I've been looking for a pair for years, but can't find any that fit well enough for me to walk in them. I like your new license plate - great choice. And that black desk is beautiful.

Fun plate for you; pretty boots! The box car does beg to be photographed. The avocado salsa sounds good. Great desk for your computer.
