5 Random Friday Finds

Find No. 1

I found some much needed photographic inspiration this week in the theme "fences" over at the Photography Project. It was the kick in the butt I needed to get me out shooting again. I have been so wrapped up in house projects the past couple of months that I had no time or desire to go out shooting. Thank goodness that is changing.

Find No. 2

I found the best description of my photography I have ever heard thanks to Nicki at Bended Road Photography.  She said "Your photography strikes me as visual punctuation to add emphasis to your story." I absolutely LOVE this description! I may have to steal this Nicki, of course giving credit where it is due.

Find No. 3

I found getting up early in the morning isn't so bad if you are doing something you love to do. I have been getting up at 5 a.m. this week to finally start my daily (at least week days) writing practice.

Find No. 4

I always find that the canvases that arrive from Shutterfly are so well packaged. I also find that I am always prepared to be disappointed by my photography bigger than life.

Yet I never am. This is going above my writing desk on the porch and replacing the current piece of $13 art that is on the wall. So much more inspirational to look at every morning at 5 a.m.

Find No. 5

Update to last week's No. 3 find. The blue door is now...

The brown door...and I am so much happier. Completes a lovely triangle of brown with the bookcases, the leather couch and now the door. Perfect. Plus it will make picking art to hang on the wall next to the door so much easier.

Visual punctuation is a wonderful way to describe your photography.

Lovely photos: great visual punctuation! Well done on the writing regime. I think it was Kingsley Amis who said that the art of writing was the art of applying the seat of one's trousers to the seat of one's chair every day and getting on with it. So you're off to a great start. All the best for a super weekend, Bonny

Love your post and your photos. I see new inspiration in them. Send some my way, would you? I get up at 5 a lot-usually go to the gym, and then come home for some downtime with breakfast. Glad you've found a moment that makes sense. Hope you can make that work in winter when it's dark. I find that a lot harder and applaud myself much more for doing so. Have a great weekend. Oh and that photo you've decided to hang with definitely make you a lot happier. And it goes with both the blue and the brown door!

Yes, I can see how the brown door fits in better after seeing your photography. That's great that you are in a good routine for writing, summer mornings with the earlier sunrises just make mornings easier. Have a good weekend.

I am not a early riser. But since an extra hour in the day would be great, maybe I should try getting up earlier... I love your fence image, your new Shutterfly art is beautiful too. Thank you for the link you left for me about reading out loud to kids, it is so important. Have a great weekend!

Love the quote from Nikki . . .
YES, to the new photo above the wall near your writing desk
and yes to brown over aqua blue . . .
This is perfect for you . . .
"Your photography strikes me as visual punctuation to add emphasis to your story."

Beautiful, of course. I, too, love Nikki's description of your work. And I love the canvas you purchased to go over your desk. I loved that photo the first time you posted it. I can see why it's inspirational for you! Thanks for sharing.

Love the quote! Is that a writing course you are taking? The photo you took looks wonderful blown up and framed. One of my goals is to replace all the store purchased art in the house with my own. Very inspiring!

The door just just to delicate clothed in brown - a sort of exquisite feeling over it - wow! And Nicki's description just nails your photos ... The water spring and the fence are just adorable ... I hear the water dripping and feel the sprinkles on my face ;) Happy weekend to you!

My favourite photo is the water fountain! It's so horribly hot and humid here today that I felt instantly freshened! I miss your blue door though!!

Nicki always has such a great way with words. Love the new door color. And I'm the same way about my photography when it arrives. Happy weekend!

I'm so glad you had that photo printed to hang above your writing desk. It's so beautiful that I think it would be inspirational even if it weren't your own image. Does that make any sense? Anyway, I also agree with you about the brown door. It does feel like it fits in more with your style.

Wow - I love your photo printed! I've never done that but have thought to do it. Visual punctuation is perfect! I'm happy you found a color for your door - sometimes I find choosing the perfect color to be a teensy bit frustrating! I hope you're having.a great weekend!

I love your take on the fountain photo. I am trying to print more of my images too. I just have trouble deciding which to print for which location so I end up in a no man's land. I love the location over the desk for your print. It is inspirational!

You definitely have visual punctuation. I have a question about Mallorie's photo. Is it printed on canvas with a border and then you put it in the skinny dark frame? I hadn't thought of that but I think I may like that better on some of mine. Brown door is great. I've been doing a lot of 'house' projects as of late and it seems to inspire my creativity more. Sometimes I think all this photography time is a lot of time wasted. At least that's this week's thinking. It's a battle right now.

i love the brown door! i like having some of my pictures from snapfish printed at walmart. i know the quality isn't as good but usually when i decide to order a print i'm in such a hurry to get it so i'll order it to be printed at walmart and you can pick it up in an hour! plus i'm now addicted to snapfish's collage, very cool!! your photography is just beautiful so i imagine the prints are awesome! thanks for linking and hope to see you again next friday!
