I held my breath as I attached my card reader to my laptop, slipped in the picture card, and pushed the Get Media button.
As 140 pictures loaded, I said a little prayer "Please just let 10 of these be good enough". The reason for my fear is I shot my whole photo walk on Sunday night in camera RAW mode. Shooting in RAW scares me to death. You see, I have been happy (sort of) in my little iPhoto, .jpeg world. Shooting in RAW requires post processing, something else that scares me to death. To me it seemed enough to think about composition, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, ISO and focus.
But this year is about growing, facing my fears, stepping outside of my comfort zone and daring to learn new things.
Out of the 140 pictures that I loaded there are 35 usable ones, and 15-20 that I am pretty happy with, prayer answered. They may not be professional photographer good enough, but they are Sarah Huizenga good enough and that is all that really matters.

Great photo I haven't yet used RAW on my little Panasonic I'm still getting to grips with all the settings so well done. It's always exciting when that card gets slipped in 'what shots came out and oh that's turned out better than I thought ?
Yeah You! You will love post processing. So many options with those little sliders. Enjoy!
The photo you posted is lovely! I've gotten very comfortable in my safe little processing place, too...I love post processing, but there's so much more for me to learn. Baby steps, is my motto! I have no doubt you'll get it. :)
I LOVE the clarity of your photos! You've found a very fitting font for your site. Nicely done.
You are so brave... I get you, it is so tough to go out of the comfort zone. But once you do, its awesome :)
I love this pic and its unique perspective
xo
Congrats on facing your fear. It's a daily process for me.
RAW is a good thing because it holds a lot more digital information. The only additional processing you NEED to do is to change it into a jpeg to print, web, etc. If you have Lightroom, that is a piece of cake and if not, you pick and choose what photos you need to process. It's all good! Hope you're having fun!
I shoot raw, but every once in awhile I take a break and just shoot in jpeg. But it's oh sooooo fun to process. You'll get addicted. (BTS) Enjoying reading our posts.
