The orange was going to be a bottle of my favorite childhood orange soda. The hot pink was going to be a icing topped, buttery, melt in your mouth sugar cookie from my favorite local bakery.
The soda was easy enough. I picked that up when I got groceries earlier in the week. The cookie, in my true procrastinating style, I put off getting until today, Friday. Well guess what my favorite local bakery didn't have this morning when I walked through the door? Yep, my hot pink iced, melt in your mouth cookie.
Crap! So what was I suppose to do now? I was not going to let go of my vision for this color combination. So I tried one other local bakery, no hot pink cookies. At this point I was getting desperate, so I even tried the grocery store bakery.
As I was staring at the only hot pink thing in the grocery store bakery case, some mini cupcakes with hot pink frosting and sprinkles, I had a brilliant idea. I would make my own hot pink frosted sugar cookies.
So I bought some ready for the oven sugar cookies, white frosting and neon pink food coloring.
And I made my own hot pink frosting...
Maybe I didn't find the "perfect" cookie for this color combination, but thanks to photography which forces me to be creative and blogging that allows me to tell the story, I may have come up with something even better than I had originally planned.

oh that is what i like...a girl that is resourceful! Don't eat too many!
Wonderful! I love your determination and your creativity. But I think my favorite photo might be that last one. I love the swirling of the red and white into all those shades of hot pink.
A woman on mission...will always accomplish her plans.
Creative thinking and a wonderful colour combination!
i love it when that happens! :)
Your story has me smiling! How dare they not have pink cookies when you must have them! I love how creative you are with these summer colors!
fun way to use the colors!
perfect photo of orange and hot pink and the story is 'the icing on the cake'!
Your homemade frosting looks far better than the storebought one.
Love the whirling effect. [Wouldn't want to eat it though :-)]
You are so creative! I love how your cookies turned out and look beautiful alongside the Orange Crush soda!
haha, your cookies look wonderful.
xx
I love it - procrastination fostering creativity - I know that's true for me! You did a fantastic job with this challenge - the pink and orange are vibrant. I'm getting a kick out of the ready to bake cookies and store bought frosting - definitely my kind of baking! :-)
LOL, I love this!!. You never know what life gives you, when you didn't get what you fancy, you worked it!. Totally yummy pink frosting :).
I agree with seabluelens: I really like the swirly icing picture.
Oh aren't you clever! I combined my Friday Find and Summer of Color 2013, as well...terrific job!
Oh...and I can almost hear you saying, "Crap!"
I love that you procrastinate like I do... I have an oh crap moment a few times a week... love the icing colour you made though... that is perfect for the colour prompt... happy week 2
