5 Random Friday Finds

The end of vacation is upon us. Here are some random finds I found this second week of vacation.

Find No. 1

This week I found two old rotary style telephones. One inside an old historic Inn and one outside an old-time general store.

Find No. 2

This vacation is my first experience cooking with a cast iron skillet, and I loved using it. We are going to have to add one of these to our home cooking equipment.

Find No. 3

I found I have a very challenging family when it come to having their pictures taken. They both thought this was hilarious.

Find No. 4

I found gorgeous morning light on the front porch of an historic inn. I could easily live on this front porch and be completely happy.

Find No. 5

While out exploring and photographing some historic farmsteads one morning, I found this pair of lacy Victoria's Secret underwear on a piece of farm equipment. Hmmm....

What a great set! Do the old phones work? The napkin shot made me laugh. I'm sure they were just cleaning the ice cream off their faces for you, right? I love that porch too, though it needs some nice wicker furniture and a few rocking chairs. As for that last one...well, that might just be one of the most "random" finds I've seen yet! :-)

Sarah, Every single one of these pictures brought a smile to my face - and I can picture you behind the camera for each shot. I could live on that porch, too - as long as we had that cast iron pan full of potatoes! LOVE the picture of your husband and daughter hiding behind the napkins - a perfect memory with a story of summer and family and love. And yes, your last photo just goes to show, you never know what you'll find while out on a photo walk!

Well, some fun finds here! The sign of a good vacation. :-D My family hates having their photos taken, too. And my granddaughter ... well, only if she's in the right mood, which breaks my heart because I know some day, she'll wish she had photos of these memories. I guess we have to learn to be sneakier.

Lovely vacation memories that you have photographed. I smiled at the napkin picture, so typical of what my kids would do also.
Cast iron pan can also be used in the oven for homemade pizza!

Wonderful finds! Love the old rotary phones. I know a boy who several years ago was at his grandmother's house and needed to make a phone call. She had an old rotary style phone and he didn't know how to use it. :) The cast iron pan makes great corn bread too!

Super photos, Sarah. I sympathise with the family photos. My lot are given to the odd rebellion on that front from time to time too. Loved the old telephones. All the best, Bonny

I use cast iron and there is nothing like it. That last photo made me laugh out loud, literally.

What a fun post! You seem to be finding some pretty unusual things on your vacation...like the last image! We probably don't want to know the story behind that! Love the napkin shot! Fun times! I was given a cast iron skillet at my wedding shower...already broken in and ready to use! I still use it and love it! There's nothing like fried potatoes and onions cooked in a cast iron skillet!

I'm sure there is a story that goes with undies, not sure if we want to know what it is. Love sitting on front porches in the early mornings. The light is perfect in that photo.

Looks like a grand vacation enjoyed by all, including the undies!!

That last one made me laugh - things that make me go "hmmmmm"..... I love my cast iron skillet, I have it so well seasoned, it's better than any non-stick pan. Looks like you had a fun vacation!

I have just found a rotary phone and it works with the modern day systems so I can't wait to buy it! Lovely finds, but I laughed so hard when I saw the last shot! The mind boggles!! :-)

I have to love these old phones that you have found. I have an old wooden phone hanging in my dining room that was my grandmothers, and had fun with my grandson comparing his IPHONE with my old phone. He was amazed when I told him how you made calls a long time ago. My grandma's number, was one long and two shorts. He looked at me like I was crazy. Great Friday finds.

I love those old telephones. So common once now never used. The underwear looks pretty new too.
