In keeping with my vow to appreciate the beauty of winter this year, here are a few finds from this past week.
Find No. 1
I find beauty in the simplicity and barrenness of winter. I find this shot very peaceful.
Find No. 2
I found a dog not to happy to be tied to a tree while I climbed through some snow drifts to get down to the beach and Lake Michigan. I was only thinking of him and his old dog hips.
Find No. 3
I found a frozen channel, a big red lighthouse and a lovely sky. That is suppose to be the water filled channel on the left hand side of the the blue railing.
Find No. 4
I found on a chilly -2 degree morning a beautiful sunrise.
Find No. 5
I found some beautiful frost on one of my outdoor light fixtures just by walking out my garage door.
See...winter beauty is all around us. All we have to do is be looking for it.

I like them all but Find No. 3 is my favourite.
Ohhhh, I love snow..We get snow once every 5-8 years or so, lol..Photo #4 reminds me of TN, where I have family :-) Beautiful!
I love that lighthouse shot and the railing which leads us to the horizon.
Sarah these are beautiful, the contrast between the blue sky, the red lighthouse sigh.....
Sure does look cold... really like the lighthouse also.
I give you a lot of credit for getting out in that cold. I love the frosty images.
beautiful. We had sea-smoke one morning last week and dressed up to go outside and photograph...but we couldn't stay out there long...it was -1 with a wind chill of -20!
Excellent photos . . .
Loved the frost on the light . . .
Patient doggie too!
Hi Sarah ... love how you are celebrating winter! Love your photos ... esp that red lighthouse with the blue rail! you captured the essence of winter perfectly! Hope you have a great weekend!
Winter does have it's beauty, but I wish it wasn't here for so long. Did you know that I always make sure I have coffee in my cup so I can relax and read your blog?
So much winter beauty! I love the colors in the frozen channel and the details in your frost photos. You did give your dog a treat after waiting so patiently, right? :)
These are all so gorgeous!! Miss reading your blog. Hoping to catch up more soon. Any new coffee chronicles coming soon? :)
So lovely. Love the dramatic sky and lines in your frozen channels shot. Happy weekend to you. :)
So cold and yet so inviting; that lighthouse shot is fantastic.
Beautiful images!! I love the water channel, that should be a canvas :-) I do hope the owner came back for the dog (sorry, I do worry about these things!). Have a wonderful weekend.
ok, Sarah,,,, I think you are trying to make me like winter!! All your captures are beautiful,,,,,,thanks for going out into the cold so you could share these with us :-) Have a good weekend,,,,
I'm amazed at your fortitude - to brave the cold - but your reward is such stellar images - you do have a gifted eye for landscape!
Your images are so beautiful, and I appreciate your willingness to be out in such a cold, icy world to take pictures that I can admire while sitting in my warm house. I will have to be satisfied with enjoying the scenes of winter vicariously... we have not seen winter yet, but I'm sure it is on its way.
These certainly look cold, but oh so beautiful!! I love the red lighthouse against all that ice!
Beautiful photos... I especially love the last one!
Beautiful photos!
They are all beautiful my favourites are the frost and lighthouse
Sarah, once again you are an inspiration. Your winter images are very beautiful. I need to get out more!
Beautiful.... all of them. I so wish I lived closer to the water. Winter always seems more beautiful there. You capture it beautifully!
Find #3 is especially striking!
I really love the first shot. It reminds me of the winters of my childhood in Wisconsin.
you make winter look wonderful….do you know those last photos are of hoar frost? that's my favorite to see and photograph!!!
Sarah, You have really found your own style as a photographer! It seems to be you that you are using photography in it's most powerful capacity, to expand your vision and your appreciation of what is. It's fun to dream, but it's also incredibly rewarding to find joy with what is right before you - and you are doing that with each of your finds today. Absolutely beautiful images!
