North

We are traveling North later this week for a long weekend away. Since we always seem to be headed that direction I began to think about what North means to me.

North

It's where my beautiful girl is most of the year. Eight hours North.

It means the Might Mac Bridge which we must cross to get to the beautiful girl.

It means Lake Superior and Presque Isle Park

It means my favorite place on earth - The Leelanau Peninsula

It means great wineries and Wine Tasting

It means Old Barns

It means Insane Asylums

It means abandoned Ski Resorts

Most of all North means family and fun times together.

What does North mean to you?

"North," to me, is North Carolina, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Great Smoky Mountains. It means Lutheridge, our church's summer camp and retreat center in Arden, NC, about 20 miles or so from Asheville. It means Camp Old Indian near Traveler's Rest, SC, where my two sons spent their summers as Boy Scouts. It means hiking and waterfalls and God's grandeur.

Great photos !
Lately when someone mentions "North" I think of "Pole"
only because here in the East we keep getting blizzards ~
does that make any sense , or only to me . lol

North means even colder than here, with achey bones in the winter and summers that I think I would enjoy.

Loved this Sarah!

North to me I leads me to my daughter, SIL, grandchildren. North leads me to a small village I lived in when we first moved to Michigan from Wisconsin. North used to mean . . . we were going skiing to the Highlands, Powderhorn Mountain.

North, where all of our family lives, where they have snow and we do not, a place where I hope there are enough Monarch Butterflies to migrate to, the opposite of north is south, and that is where I live with no snow! The end, lol!

Have a great time, love that peninsula and that bridge!!

Your trip North sounds pretty great. The word North reminds me of growing up in North Dakota. Great people and great times.

cold, colder, coldest. North would normally mean 12+ hours to our daughter at college (except right now she is in Japan). I like your travel North - especially the part that includes family (other parts are cool too).

Your North looks beautiful! My north is Northern Virginia, which is like a different state from the rest of Virginia. :-) I also think of New England and places I'd love to visit again.

North...well, we actually say "up north" (why is that?) is going to the home of our family farm in Cheboygan. Loved spending summers and holidays there.I too love the Leelanau Peninsula. Ever been to Christmas Cove? It was the best place to find Petoskey stones. Looking for forward to all the photos you will share.

I could print a book of North means to me. in fact it's the most meaningful direction of all. North Dakota, need I say more? (since I've left and moved to TX)

North to me is Maine, which I choose to return to in November. My friends probably think I'd be a good candidate for that insane asylum for coming back just before winter, but there's no place I'd rather live. I LOVE that portrait of your daughter. Have a wonderful trip and visit!

I meant "chose," past tense!

To me, "north" is Idaho: long treks into the wilderness to run a river. Or Wisconsin, where I grew up and will be returning this summer. I wrote down "Leelanau Peninsula". Maybe I need to persuade my mother to try something different from Door County!

Your "north" is beautiful and that includes your daughter! North to me means my daughter and her family, who lives 3 hours straight north of us, as the crow flies!! North means curvy scenic roads, mountains, lakes, waterfalls and nature's beauty!

Oh man, Kelly...I want to come play in your North, too! Some of my fondest memories are from Monterey, and Carmel by the Sea...and oh, San Francisco, such a fantastic place to play...wow, now that was a complete trip down memory lane! Thanks!

Sarah, hope your Northern trip to the beautiful daughter is spectacular! When I think of North, I think of Northern lights. Have never seen them, but I know that one day I will! Perhaps there is a very cool coffee shop along the journey for a tidbit for your chronicles...hint hint???
