5 Random Friday Finds

Find No. 1

Glen and I have hit a high spot in our marriage. We can now successfully shop for furniture together. These new chairs are getting ordered today.

Find No. 2

So glad that the coffee shop that I write at on Tuesdays has replaced the snowman cups and poinsettias with heart cups and carnations.

Find No. 3

I am not very patient when waiting for a train. This one just stopped, so I wound up turning around and going a different way.

Find No. 4

For the last two days I have loaded the dogs in the car and driven to a plowed bike path. I am so done with walking on the side of the road and living in fear for my life and the dogs' lives.

Find No. 5

It is so hard to find the right artwork for your walls. I love the saying on this and the colors, but I don't ride a bike. Now if it was some Rain Boots and this saying it would be perfect.

Lucky you. Life is not to complicated. My wife and I have always shopped together. My two favourite words are "yes dear".

Our way of shopping together is I do the initial shopping/selection and narrow the choices down to a couple then bring hubby to the store to help with the final decision. It works and we send less money that way. After 5 years of on then off again searching, I have yet to find the perfect artwork for our living room. Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh, but you could take a photo, add the saying, and make your own wall art. I like those snow shoes behind your chair pic! We don't see them much down here, but my 70+ year old mother in law is on a snow shoeing trip right now!

I think Rebecca has the perfect solution for your wall art!

Fun pics and R5F's . . . I am checking out the bike trails . . . I wonder if they have been cleared a bit north of you . . . It would solve my problem, maybe Snickers' too!

Cool chairs - I'm fortunate my husband let's me do the decorating.

I think those chairs will look great with your new sofa! I agree with the idea above - why buy wall art when you could make yours with the perfect picture and saying together!

I love those chairs! We've been looking for new furniture, just haven't hit the point in our marriage where we can properly afford it!

Nancy said...

The only piece of furniture we shopped for together was our sofa pit a few years ago. Other than that, it's a mish mash in here... :)

Maybe you will need to make your own wall art? :) Happy Valentine's Day Sarah!

I really like the pattern on the chair. Lately I really like bringing the outdoors in. I am so happy about your and your hubby. That is wonderful. I hope you have a wonderful Valentines Day. And by the way you could make your own poster the those rain boots. If you want any tips let me know.

I think Rebecca has the right solution for your wall art! Nice chairs -- congratulations. I like trains -- except when they block the road. Stay safe and warm! Happy Friday.

Oh I love the chairs they are awesome. Nice touch at the coffee shop. Nice wall art. I love watching the trains and the graffiti. Glad you found a safe place for your dogs. Great photos. B

My husband is 6'4''. He doesn't fit in a lot of furniture. that narrows things down a lot. Your chairs are great! I agree that you should make your own wall art. Then you would get exactly what you want.

After 33 years of marriage he still listens to me ! I love your choice of chair looks really comfy...

Love those chairs! Great finds. I really think you just need a few frames for your own beautiful creations though....Happy Valentine's day. :)

Happy Valentine's day, Sarah! Love your chairs ... they looks so comfy! Usually when my hubby and I shop together ... I first narrow down the choices ... I guess I am kinda steering him to make the correct choice ... "my choice" :~) enjoy them!

I like the chairs, and I still can't shop well with the dh..he has to think everything over so much and I am the exact opposite...I don't think at all- or maybe I am just easy to be pleased. I agree with you on the safer route to walk..my dh rides his bike on the side of the highway and it makes me crazy nervous. People drive all over the road.

Stephanie said...

Nice choice for the chair. I wouldn't mind having it myself!

Nancy said...

I love those chairs; beautiful fabric....I don't like to shop with my husband because we have such different taste...Maybe one day.....Glad you are finding a different place to walk as I am always nervous when I see bikers or walkers on the side of the road....Happy Valentine's Day.....

The only thing we shop together for is big things like furniture. You'll never see us in Walmart or the grocery store together, unless I'm not capable of pushing the cart! I love the new chair, beautiful fabric! Yep, I'm with you, the poinsettias were getting a little old. I wonder what they'll decorate the tables with next!

Linda Stoll said...

yeah ... I think we're all about DONE with snowy walks, driveways, paths, and roadways. Spring is just around the corner!

I do ride a bike so this poster would be great for me.

Sarah, I've been enjoying your coffee shop posts and look forward to each one. I love this post about you and your husband reaching a high point because you can shop for furniture together. It's exactly what my husband and I are doing at the moment and I'm not sure it's a high point in our marriage! Gotta ask you though...do you know who the manufacturer is of that chair because I really want one :) Happy Valentines!

Oh, I LOVE those chairs!

The armchair looks very pretty ! At the beginning of our marriage I liked Mr. G to be with me, now 40 years later I prefer to go alone, because he anyway just stands there and says "buy what you want" lol !

That chair is a perfect purchase, and love your random 5...waiting for the train to cross has me jittery, and I usually doing the same. Find another way to go around it :) Happy weekend!

Dotti said...

Great facts! I love the chair, too. And that wall hanging ... that would be perfect for us since my husband does ride a lot, I ride 'some'. Have a great weekend, Sarah!

I agree, you can definitely make your own wall art, paisley boots and all! Congratulations on your new chairs! I hope you'll show them to us in place when you get them. Happy weekend!

I like the chair - a lot. My Husband and I always shop for furniture and decide on redecorating together. It's easier that having one of us disgruntled by a purchase that we must see every day! I agree - don't walk on the road!

Rose said...

Oh, I really like that saying, too. Maybe you could use one of your own photos and write it on it and make it all your own!

We used to live in Terre Haute, Indiana, and it is train central. They finally build a couple overpasses at some of the busiest places where multiple railroads came together, but still, there are times you just have to sit and wait. This one train can totally block you from getting from one end of town to the other.

Oh I do love those chairs. I do pretty much all of the decorating, my sweetie was happy with whatever I chose. You are lucky to have found that plowed bike path, it is treacherous to walk with all the snow. So many do not shovel their sidewalks and you end up in the street. I do like that bike picture, but with your talent you could create one similar with rain boots.

abrianna said...

LOL at your first comment!

What would frustrate me is that after shoveling snow and making the path clear at the edge of the sidewalks and driveway, the plows come by and pile back up snow you already shoveled.

It does take a few years to get to the point of where you can go furniture shopping together....Oh my, I do love those chairs...perfect for reading...and even napping in..
Bike paths are the way to go now...I find the same thing...I do ride a bike but not on the street anymore...to many people texting and talking and not paying attention...enjoy your walks on the path.

Nicki said...

Love the chairs, enjoy the artwork on the side of the train (our coal trains lack imaginative graffiti) and while I don't walk a dog anymore - I completely appreciate the need to find a safer walking location. Have a Happy Valentine's Day.

Love the chair! I hate waiting for trains too, hate it more when they just stop!!! Enjoy your weekend!!

Oh yes! Shopping together certainly marks a high spot. Love the chairs. Yes my dogs (and I) are pretty fed up with the l heavy salt users near us too. We often go in search of better places to walk. Time for spring I think!

Lisa @ Two Bears Farm said...

That fabric on the chairs is so unique. I love it!

Ida said...

Those are cool looking chairs. - Enjoy them.
I don't mind waiting for trains that much. Good thing you decided to go another way if it just stopped though.
So glad you found a safer place to walk your dogs.
Snow is all gone here now (hooray). Stay warm and Safe.

That chair is fantastic! I love that quote, it is all about the journey!

Jill said...

Fun post...and you can put the words on your own photograph and make your own art!

Nancy said...

The quote is something similar to what my late husband said to me once, before it became a popular saying. We had been trying to find a particular café in a town several hours away from our home. I was getting a bit frustrated trying to find it, while he was pointing out landmarks and enjoying the drive. Finally he smiled and said, "It's not the destination, honey, it's the journey." He was so right.

sweetbriardreams said...

I love the quote! I wouldn't mind waiting for the train to go but in that snow I think I would have done the same thing and turned around. Take care and keep safe and warm x

Carletta said...

Are you getting the chairs in that pattern? I love it.
A plowed bike path - how considerate!
LOVE that coffee mug!

Thanks for visiting my Random 5 this week. :)
