Find No. 1
When I was finally old enough to get my own phone, I wanted one like this one so bad. I did not get it.
Find No. 2
Find No. 3
I was very tempted by this 1950's Girl Scout uniform. If I did portrait photography….hmmm…my niece Anna is about this size. There was this camera there as well…
That could lend itself to a fun portrait session. I will need to think on this.

Find No. 5
I am old enough to remember S & H Green Stamps. I loved going to the redemption center with our filled booklets to redeem them for some exciting gadget. I would love to find some old booklets, they would be wonderful to photograph.

Nice finds Sarah! I love antique malls and vintage markets and am always on the lookout for bargains to use as photography props...which explains why sometimes I can't move in the house for stuff...lol. Ok, I really have to make a rule of one thing in, one thing out...ok, that rule actually exists but I can't seem to follow it! The other day I found my now 33yr old daughter's brownie uniform and hung it on the vintage clothes rack. Looking forward to seeing her little face when she comes home and realises it's there. :) Hope you have a fantastic weekend.
But did you buy anything? I remember those green stamps too!
I just got myself an antique phone. Great finds, did you get anything?
I remember Mom collecting those green stamps when we lived in Texas -- it was our job to use the sponge to wet them and put them in the books for her. Great memories. :)
good morning Sarah, i love poking around in a antique store...you just never know what you will find! I remember that girl scout uniform and the green stamps...now i am really showing my age!
I am in the mood for an antique store visit . . . you cemented it for me . . . maybe today or the weekend.
Antique stores are a lot of fun and they do help jog the memory a bit. I can remember helping my mom fill the booklets with green stamps.
tigger is my favorite ... i love Christopher Robin & the whole crew. a perfect story. ( :
Great finds! I would love that camera. And I remember green stamps. I remember my mother sitting at the kitchen table moistening the backs of the stamps with a sponge and putting them in the books. It was so fun to go redeem them!
I would be so tempted with the camera , thanks for taking me on your trip...
The close up of the girl scout dress is my fave image here. I did actually see a working phone like that while I was in Cuba. What? No desire for the "princess" phone? I remember green stamps just a bit. My mom got them at the A & P. I tend to say when someplace is busy....like the library park lot is full "what's going on? they giving away stamps?" Some adult in my past must have said that.
Happy Friday Sarah.
Fun stuff Sarah!! I remember green stamps too but we came into it as it was being phased out. I don't think we ever even filled up a book! TGIF my friend!
I have a huge, old, metal green stamp sign on my front porch. I have good memories of taking those booklets to the store.
What a lovely trip down memory lane. My favorites are the Girl Scouts dress, Green Stamps and the phone...big sigh.
OH I wanted a phone like that too and now I do again! :) LOL !
Back in my early married days, I got some nice things for my house by redeeming S&H Green Stamps, and another kind that were called (I think) Blue Chip Stamps. Haven't thought about them in ages! I spent my artist date this week poking around an antiques mall nearby. It's one of my favorite pastimes.
What wonderful finds! Yes, I remember green stamps, too. My mother saved them diligently and got a lot of things we wouldn't have had otherwise. And Ike. I remember him. And phones like that, rotary phones, no less. Indeed ... a trip down memory lane! {Now I feel old!}
I enjoyed your random 5--I always wanted a phone like that, too, but never did get one.
We got S&H green stamps, but had more Top Value stamps...like you, it was exciting to go redeem them! I still have a book of them here.
Great finds Sarah! I remember green stamps. I just liked pasting the many stamps into Mom's book when she'd get behind. I think the 'stickum' tasted pepperminty. It likely was a make-work project for a little kid (me) who needed something to do.
Thanks for the memories!
xoxo
such fab finds.... that little dress is so sweet.....
i felt like I went along for the shop with you....... thanks for sharing at FF....
have a beautiful weekend..... xo, Kim
Gosh - you took me down memory lane with this set! I had a brownie uniform "styled" just like the girl scout one. Sometimes my mom would let me pick what to get with the stamps. I loved pasting them in the books!
Growing up my friend had one of those phones! I always wanted to try calling someone on it, but never did.
What an exciting time at the antique shop. I know one gal who would have gone nuts over the Girl Scout stuff...my daughter. She was a leader for over 25 years. Still a Girl Scout at heart, I think.
What a fun post! The girl scout uniform caught my eye. And that vintage Brownie camera -- that is indeed an awesome find!
Well that was a walk through my childhood I think, especially the brownie camera and the girl scout uniform. I always wanted one of those phones too, but never bought one.
Trip down memory lane here too. Thanks for having me along! My mother was all about those S & H green stamps. I remember how much fun it was to paste them in the booklets. I want that pooh bear painting for my library...how much was it??? Aloha
You have such a good eye for finding great things! I remember green stamps and redeemed quite a few books.
What a neat idea for a photo outing! We have several places here I go to with a friend. Generally I'm looking for old magazines, postcards, or scrapbooks to use in my journals. And I do remember S & H green stamps! My mother always redeemed them for something we/she needed in the house. I cannot recall ever seeing any for sale in anywhere.
I love your friday finds, I am jealous of what you found it all looks so interesting! lovely set of shots and memories
Hi Sarah, I wanted to let you know I added a little prize to my birthday bash giveaway because I flew up to be with my daughter who gave birth to our first grandbaby and wasn't able to post the winners. YOU are the winner of a little 4x4 Ferris Wheel photograph suitable for framing. You can see it on my newest post (that i'm finishing up as we speak). I just need your snail mail addy so I can get that off to you! Congrats and thanks for playing over at my corner of the world!
