Scene & Story - March 2017
Too bad you can't take a photograph of accomplishment, because accomplishing things has been my goal in March, and I have succeeded.
This might be one of my all time favorite photographs that I have ever taken, it was taken with my iPhone and edited with the app. Stackables. It was taken on the first day of March, thick atmospheric fog enveloped objects along my walk to the beach.
I love everything about it - the pier posts dancing in the water, the buoy that looks like a bobber, the two mallard ducks that flew into my frame at the perfect moment, the leafless trees, the processing that lends that perfect foggy morning feel.
One of my accomplishments in March was to get this photograph printed. I must admit I have never had many iPhone photos printed, and the ones I had done I wasn't that impressed with. But I think that was my early tendency to process everything with an overly warm cast. I have since developed my own slightly cooler style.
I started with having a 5 X 7 printed, big enough to get a good feel for the photograph, but not too expensive in case it was a disappointment. It was not! So I thought I would push it and try an 8 X 10 and an 11 X 14. Both are fabulous! The 11 X 14 is in a black frame with white matting waiting to be hung on the wall in the family room. The family room is waiting to be painted a nice Simply White. That will be next month's accomplishment.

I love everything about your image. It will look great on any wall.
Beautiful shot.
It's a gorgeous photo, Sarah, one I could look at for hours. It makes me want to get some of my own photos printed! You are an "accomplished" person in more ways than one!
Your image is just gorgeous! No wonder you have had it printed and framed. That is great that an iPhone photo printed so well. I have never had too much luck getting these printed. Did you use the app that is now available on the iPhone to have it printed? or did you have it done elsewhere. I am always drawn to photos that have some "darkness" in them, and believe I am drawn to this solitude and darkness look. Those birds truly came in at just the right moment! LOVE IT.! Cant wait to get up in the great lakes area in just 8 weeks. Hope the time goes by quickly. I am going to totally enjoy your new meme.
I love the photo too. I can tell a huge difference between my phone, iPad and computer. A larger print is still the best for me. This will look beautiful on your wall.
I love the quiet simplicity . . .
Lovely . . .
I would print, frame, hang in an all white family room too . . .
Can't wait for our adventures this week - looking forward to your "guided tour" and some beach time, no matter the weather!
The photo is stunning and serene. I found myself appreciating the empty space in the picture and also wanting transport myself into the photo to walk closer to the pier. And more painting! I hope we get a peek at the painting progress. :)
I adore the photograph. It is something I would hang in my home. I love reading the story that goes along with it as well. Hugs.!
Just like you, I love everything about this photo. This is the kind of atmospheric feel I fall for over and over again - a bit mysterious, a bit magical. It has a feel of melancholy and solitude, both in a very good way. Simple beautiful.
Congratulations on your success with this, Sarah!!
It is truly such a beautiful photograph.
I love the mood.
Your processing on this amazing photo just makes it perfect, in my opinion. It will be lovely on any wall!
It's lovely and certainly frame worthy. Way to go.
Hurray for accomplishment!!! I love this photograph, I can't believe you did this with an app. it looks so natural, great work.
I'm so proud of you for printing your favorite photo! It's an amazing feeling to have one's own artistic talent displayed. My first after many years was last year. Good for you. Keep at it.
Well it seems that you have accomplished taking this photo which you love so much and had it printed for your home! You certainly captured an atmosphere in this image and those two mallards taking flight just at the perfect moment gives the whole scene something special! Well done!
I love everything about your photo, too! It touches me with it's quiet, mysterious feel! Glad the printing worked!
timing is everything and you hit the jackpot with this one. I am with you about hesitating to print images; smart approach to start small and go from there.
It's a great photo and processing. And, printable quality with a phone, that's exciting. Would love to hear where you had it printed. I print little and it's always a hold your breath moment to see if it's acceptable.
That sounds wonderful. I would have been afraid to print an iphone pic too. I am glad it turned out for you. I thinkI used to be too warm in processing, then I think I went to cool...who knows where I am now. I am trying for a middle range.
I love the moodiness if your photo! I also love that March was a month of accomplishment! I wish I could say the same. Head hoping to have a post for this link up - maybe next month. In the meantime I'll enjoy yours!
