5 Random Friday Finds

Find No. 1

I found the perfect end of summer moment, at a cottage on the shores of Lake Michigan on Labor Day weekend sharing a glass of wine with good friends. I actually "saw" this composition before I ever lifted my iPhone to take the picture. It turned out exactly the way I imagined it.

Find No. 2

I found out why I have had a hard time decorating my house over the years. I have been trying to decorate with new store bought items. As soon as I switched to decorating with things I love it came together in a day. This is a display of vintage cameras and my photographs on top of our new library bookcases.

Find No. 3

I found this oil painting for our big wall when I was at the antique store. The original sales receipt is still stapled to the back. Purchased on September 18, 1970 for $53. I was two years old in 1970.

Find No. 4

I love fading blooms much more than fresh flowers.

Find No. 5

I found that wet deck boards make a great backdrop for a bowl of fruit, yogurt and granola. I am sure I was quite the sight standing on my deck holding my round light diffuser in one hand and my iPhone in the other, photographing a bowl of fruit at my feet. Thankfully my neighbors weren't home that morning.

Your finds are amazing this week! The shelves... they are so you! I laughed picturing you out on the deck...what we won't do in order to capture a shot.

I love that first shot of the parasol and wine glass overlooking the lake and how the corner of the parasol is reflected in the glass!

I see in composition too - interesting! :) Great job on the shelf finds and yep, going with what you enjoy makes it more personal and therefore, better. Don't even get me started on what the neighbors might think - after catching and hauling in the wheelbarrow a cage of possums to the other end of the golf course to release by the river (x2), my credibility with the neighborhood was pretty much sealed. Just keep smiling and wave.

Love the display of your beloved objects! That was Nate Berkus says, too. The things you love go together. Another great post.

What a great shot of the glass of wine. You had me reaching for something chilled in the fridge just looking at it! Great new/old painting. I'm sure it will look super on your wall, and lovely shot of the fading blossom. Have a super weekend, Bonny

I love that photographers see the world with such perspective and respect for beauty - a wine glass against a sunset, a bowl of fresh fruit and yogurt against a dark wooden deck, a faded flower. Are we not the most fortunate people to see the world this way? We have a kinship in decorating styles, as I fill my home with old junk, treasures, and found items. Another thoughtful collection of Friday Finds.

I love all your Finds this week! Your photographs and vintage cameras look wonderful over your new bookshelves. Your first image needs to go on the wall too, maybe right above a wine rack? :) Have a great weekend!

Sarah, I love all of these, but that first one of the wine glass is simply stunning. Viv is right - it looks so professional and definitely sets a vacation mood.

Great finds. That first shot is wonderful. So peaceful looking. I loved the edit on your faded flower shot.
I know what you mean about photographing things and wondering if the neighbors are going to think you are nuts. Who cares! Your fruit looked yummy.
