I had that today. I met Lynne for the first time ever today. We met for coffee, which then turned into lunch, two hours later we decided we should probably head for home.
I met Lynne through my blog. One day while we were on vacation in North Dakota this summer, a comment that she posted on this blog showed up in my email inbox.
"If I read correctly I think I am saying hello to a Michigander! Enjoy your hiking trip you brave soul! I think I am more nervous about the ticks than the snakes . . . I look forward to following you through the rest of your trip!"
A fellow Michigander! Hallelujah! Even better a West Michigander!!
We have continued to email back and forth since July. Finally we took the plunge and decided to meet.
Lynne writes a darling blog Irish Garden House, which got it's name completely on a whim, but fits her perfectly. We still don't know how she found me, since we have not posted on the same link ups. I feel it was God's providence that we find each other, and I am so thankful that we did.
I have always sought out women that are older than me as mentors. Not having the best relationship with my own mom, I have looked to others to fill that void. I have learned so much from each of them. They have all been through struggles and hardships, but are willing to share the things they have learned with me, which in turn has made me a stronger person when times have been tough. I just want to say thank you to Sandy, Abby, Char and now Lynne for being wonderful role models in my life.
Lynne and I will be getting together again, this is too wonderful of a friendship to let get away.
I love your title here, Sarah, and I know just what you mean. I would say all my best friendships started out with that feeling. Cherish it, tend it, celebrate it. This is a great beginning for both of you.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you met up it's lovely to find another who just gets it...

ReplyDelete( sorry I posted before without finishing! ) Great for you to meet a fellow blogger! I too have met fellow photographers and overseas family via the internet - it's good to make the connections!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! It's been a long time since I've met someone where I felt an instant connection like that. It's wonderful that Lynne is nearby. It's amazing how connections are made through our blogs - it's what keeps me blogging. If I stopped, I'd truly miss many of the people I've "met".
ReplyDeleteSounds like such a fun meeting. And your photos are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWith tears . . . many . . . in my eyes, and heart . . . I am touched and say . . . thank you . . . Wondering no more what brought me to that first comment, suffice it to say . . . Gods providence indeed . . .
ReplyDeleteLoved the photos and the quote . . .
Yes! Last year I traveled to Palm Springs for Shutter Sisters Oasis and finally met longtime blog friends. The best part was meeting my sister collaborators at FOL. Just as you said: old friends from the beginning. This summer I had another opportunity to meet more of the collaborators from FOL: old friends from the beginning. I do wish I had one of these 'old friends from the beginning' locally ... it would be great to have somebody to 'shoot' with. Sweet post.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. It's amazing how special people become part of our lives.
ReplyDeleteI love when God brings just that special person into our lives at just the right moment...It sounds like the beginning of a sweet friendship....I too have met some wonderful friends blogging but none live close by....
ReplyDeleteYes, Lynn is a sweet heart. Maybe one of these days I will get to meet her too.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE when that happens...I need to catch you up on some stuff! BTW, nominated you for the Sunshine Award. Here's the scoop! And the Nominees Are...

I've always thought it would be such fun to meet up with a fellow blogger/friend. I'm glad you made an instant connection and had a good time together. Your images are really lovely. I love the textured glass in the first one.
ReplyDeleteLynne is the best. The very Best.
